I have liked Kenny’s music since 1994 beginning with The Tin Man. I think my LOVE for his music was sealed with How Forever Feels. I loved the upbeat tempo video. I knew then he would be around for a long time and I wanted to see him in concert.
The first Kenny Chesney Concert I attended was spur of the moment. He was doing a concert in 2002 in Nashville. 24 hours before the concert I decided I wanted to go. I talked a co-worker Into going with me. We could only get single seats. Needless to say this was my first introduction to what would become No Shoes Nation. It was so much fun I never realized I was sitting with strangers. One of the beauty of the No Shoes Nation’s foundation. Everyone gets to know everyone. Never a Stranger. I have been to around 8 of his shows with 2 or more planned for this year. Meeting Kenny in Columbia SC in 2013 was one of my faves. However, The Nashville Concert in 2012 was great. Ultimately I guess my fave was the unexpected concert at Flora Bama. Fantastic Show with Great Friends.
My favorite Song is Old Blue Chair. When life brings Chaos and I need to find that place of calm Old Blue Chair takes me there. I often literally listen for the sound of the ocean waves, imagine the feel of sand between my toes, and a adult beverage in my hand. With that picture in my mind calm soon finds me.
My favorite cover that Kenny has ever done was in 2002 in Nashville ( hope year is right) He sang Conway Twitty’s song Lay You Down. That moment he did that song was amazing! It was a love song yet sexy at the same time one of my favorite concert memories.
I have to throw a plug for Back Where I Come From. Being a East Tennessee Girl this song has a lot of meaning.
One of the reasons I think I was originally attracted to KC’s music was the fun happy music. Yet he was always able to write a soundtrack to many aspects of my life. Keg in the Closet reminded me of my years hanging out at the Sigma Chi House at ETSU. The Sigma Chi house was not very far from Kenny’s fraternity House Lambda Chi. There was a sense of family and rivalry in the Greek Community. I actually grew up visiting the very house Keg In The Closet was sung about. KC was a couple of years younger then me but I knew of who he was because I would hear friends talk about him and his music. My favorite Album is The Road and The Radio.
On being a part of the No Shoes Nation… Through friendships, new adventures and overall the feeling of being in my Happy Place whenever KC’s music is the center of a fun event. Jennifer Mattingly is a great mentor and friend who has educated me on the whole concert experience. She has shown me the true sense of family. She gave away sandbar tix she won to a mother and son in SC 2013. Jennifer had sandbar tickets. Then she learned of a game being played and everyone in my group played the game and had our first Sandbar Experience. To sum if up I love KC, his music and all of my friends in No Shoe Nation! KC always amazes me as to how he seems to know how to select his songs. There was one aspect of my life I thought KC would never be able to sing a song to my life’s soundtrack. Never ever doubt KC! 2005 he found that song. When I first heard Who You’d Be Today in Sept. Of 2005 I was in awe. I lost my husband in 1997 I was a 32 year old widow. My husband was 34 waiting on a heart transplant at Vanderbilt and a heart wasn’t found quick enough. Who You’d Be Today was a thought I often had and KC does it again!!! He does know how to pick the songs!
Thank You Lisa For Loving The Music!!!!!
