“A Year In The Sandbar”

Happy 2020 No Shoes Nation!

As we welcome in a new year, we thought it would be fun to go back and reflect on what made 2019 special in the Sandbar. 2019 turned out to be an amazing year for us.

Starting the year with a small tour announcement actually made us kinda relieved. For the past 3 years we had been planning our 2nd group Sandbar Escape trip for late October. Knowing we were going to have some quality time in the islands with 150 amazing people, made it easier and more cost effective to only have 4 Kenny shows on our calendar.

Couple of amazing things happened out of a normal tour that made 2019 awesome. We were so excited for our friends, The Wheeland Brothers for getting a gig to play on the Tortuga stage. They made us so proud and rocked it. We organized a preparty with our friends from Woody’s before the Jacksonville show and raised over $1,600 for Love For Love City. Can’t forget that we finally met Luke Bryan… and yes ladies he is as dreamy as you can imagine. Connie turned the big 50 in her favorite place… St. John with Michelle and their families.

The year moved on with the release of some new music… “Tip Of My Tongue”. It certainly brought on the anticipation of a new album coming in 2020. We are all hopeful that Kenny will put it on the set list. It never made it to #1 on the charts, but it’s a new favorite with the No Shoes Nation.

After the Tallahassee show Deborah Jane and Connie hopped on the road to surprise everyone at the Flora~Bama for the songwriters show. Little did they know they would be surprised themselves. Having Kenny show up to sing a few songs with DLM. He was just inches away singing Flora~Bama at the Flora~Bama! It was a dream come true! To top off the night, Kenny broke set list at the Wharf and sang “Songs For The Saints” to honor everyone effected by the devastation that the hurricanes caused in the Gulf Coast! A memory that would become a top 10 Kenny concert moment.

The announcement of a picture book and only 3,500 being produced was all the buzz for the last part of  the summer. The “Living In Fast Forward” table book was offered to only fanclub members. As far as we can tell there were enough to go around in the No Shoes Nation. Kenny did a private invitation only discussion about the book in Nashville with all the photographers. Connie was lucky enough to attend and actually even get in the front row. It was a special moment in our Kenny world.

For the fall of 2019, our long awaited 2nd Sandbar Escape finally became a reality. We welcomed 150 of our closest No Shoes Nation friends onto the island of St. John . It was an epic trip. We made so many lifelong friends while living the songs on that amazing island. We took over Jost Van Dyke for a day of bar hopping and fun. Foxy sang to us while we drank painkillers in the crystal clear waters of the Virgin Islands. In true Sandbar style we had a fundraiser and was able to donate over $1,600 to their local animal shelter, the ACC. We even made the local paper. Look for another trip to be planned for 2022.

To finish out the year, everyone was starting to get antsy for a tour announcement. Like clockwork Kenny announced his tour and what a fitting name… we certainly will being doing some Chillaxification in 2020. Once again Kenny will be visiting our beautiful state of Florida twice and can’t wait to see everyone in Tampa and West Palm. We couldn’t be more excited to head to Nashville on none other than Connie’s birthday in June. Still looking to pick a new city to chillaxify in this year. Maybe Denver or California!

With a year like 2019, how can 2020 be better? Anything is possible with the No Shoes Nation! We look forward to making it another year and decade of love, music and all things Kenny!

Thank you for following our crazy music loving lives!

Connie and Michelle
