“Easing Back Into It With Grace”

We did a thing. Something we have not been able to do together since February 2020. We went to a LIVE concert with a few of our friends.

So, what is it like to go to a socially distanced live show? Well to be fully honest… amazing! Our tickets were bought for Grace Potter back in January. It was something they were calling The Front Yard Festival. We have a venue here in Orlando where we have been to several times for concerts over the years, from Sammy Hagar to Brett Eldrege. For the new format, they utilized their large outdoor grassy space where they  set up little “pod” sections with two, four or five guest areas. The tickets have to be bought together, so we bought a pod for five at $70 each person, it was a deal.

We organized our crew and made our plans. Many of us thought we were going to hate it since we were only allowed to take our masks off when we were in our pod. Well, it really wasn’t bad at all. We even had a special QR code for our area where we could order food and drinks to be delivered right to us. To say the least, it kinda felt like the VIP treatment. Not gonna lie our pod would have been considered second row if we were back in the pre-covid days of concerts.  Two thumbs up to the city of Orlando, Our Mayor and The Dr. Phillips Center for bringing back live music in a socially distanced but creative way!

Now… for our review of Grace Potter and her acoustic show! Grace’s voice has been sent from heaven. Her booming but yet raspy tone is simply breathtaking. This was her first show of her Solo Acoustic Tour and to say she was excited to be back on the road in front of a live audience would be an understatement. She was so excited that she let us pick the set list. As we shouted from our pods what song we wanted to hear next, she intently listened and took our requests. We never truly knew what girl power meant until Grace strapped on her Flying V and sang her songs. She was a one woman band and pulled it off beautifully. She is funny, carasmatic, smart, talented and beautiful on the stage. We were truly entertained for over 2 hours with her shear vocal capacity. She didn’t want the show to end and quite honestly…neither did we. We were savoring our first live show in over a year. It was a beautiful night outside and we just couldn’t get enough.

Being fans of live music and having the ability to go to this special show made us realize how much we truly missed the artist-audience interaction. As Grace said multiple times during her show… music is medicine. Our hearts were healed and we are certainly on the mend. We are ready for more live music ahead. A huge bonus to the whole night was that we were able to see our WTTS family and laugh and sing together once again. Thank you Shari, Greg, Kathy, Charlotte and David for filling our souls with friendship.
Here’s to more live music and friendships in the months to come.
