“Favorite Kenny Concert Moment”
Connie and Michelle would like to share our favorite concert moments with the No Shoes Nation. Join in and tell us that time at a Kenny Chesney show that is forever etched in your mind. What is that one moment that represents the best concert time of your life?
First up Connie… Well, I am blessed to have a few things that come to mind as a favorite “moment” with Kenny. Limiting myself to one? Oh boy. Here ya go.
It was 2015 and Kenny was performing in Nashville on his birthday. I decided to go totally last minute and fly in from Orlando. Staying only 24 hours. Loved surprising all our friends by showing up at the NSR party two hours before the show! I’m so glad I did! It was the day I met Intern Jordyn for the 1st time. That girl has since became my adopted daughter. We made our way into Bridgestone arena, touring the Big Revival bus along the way!. Jordyn and I had to separate once we got inside, a dear friend upgraded me to the sandbar, so I found Emily and crew and settled in for a fun show celebrating Kenny’s Birthday. The energy was amazing.
The concert became a star studded event. Special guests Joe Walsh, Uncle Kracker, David Lee Murphy and Grace Potter. But, for me It was the moment when Taylor Swift hit the stage to sing Big Star with Kenny, that will forever be etched in my mind. She strutted out with her beautiful long legs and energetic smile. Yes, I am a huge Taylor Swift fan. For me having daughters, she became the one thing musically that we could relate to. As they grow into their teen years, we have had many sing a longs in the car to her fun music! We have seen her in concert together every tour since she first started. So, to see both my favorite male and female musicians on stage at the same time was incredible. Added plus… Taylor and Kenny slapped my hand as they cruised by me on the T. I just about passed out with excitement.
I have been following Kenny, his music and going to his concerts since 1999. All his shows are incredible in their own way. To narrow it down to one moment is hard. I am truly blessed with so many years of memories. Fortunately I look forward to so many more.
Let’s hear from Michelle…
They say you never forget your first time… LOL… in this case, I am referring to my first time in the sandbar and “touching” Kenny. It was back on the Goin’ Coastal tour in 2011. Connie and I went to our very first Kenny show together that year and haven’t looked back since! That was a few years before we launched Welcome To The Sandbar. We hit the West Palm Beach shed show and had great seats, not sandbar. It was an amazing night. I had no idea what would happen a few nights later when we went to the Tampa show at Raymond James Stadium. It was my VERY first SANDBAR experience.
Connie was a sandbar pro at that time and although I thought I knew how awesome it was going to be, I don’t think you can really be prepared for the emotions you experience during your first sandbar experience—excitement, uncertainty, exhilaration, etc. But that night was also the first time I “touched” Kenny….no laughing…you all know what I mean! It’s that moment sometime during the show when you are up against or near the stage and you put your hand up hoping he grabs it and looks you in the eyes while he’s singing.
Well, that Tampa show 2011 was the first time that happened to me and I tell you, I still get excited thinking about it. I literally cried like I was 16-years old and at a Duran Duran or Bon Jovi concert, LOL. But what’s funny is that I was a full grown adult and couldn’t control my emotions. I cried in excitement and literally hit the ground because I was so overwhelmed. I kinda felt like an idiot but the girls around us thought it was “cute” and “sweet.” I remember Connie giving me a huge smile and a look that said “I told you there was nothing like it!” I think we hugged for a good five minutes. Thank goodness no one mad fun of me! Now, I get to see it show after show when it happens to others and it makes my heart burst with happiness. I love seeing people experience their “first” with Kenny. Whether it’s their first show, first sandbar or first time getting that handshake and smile. I have been blessed to have had that happen several times since then and I now know how to control myself, LOL…and every time it’s special. But like I said…you never forget your first time.
Hope you enjoyed our favorite moments!
We love you No Shoes Nation.
