“No Shoes Nation… A Family Affair”
Meet The Brown Family
Our love for Kenny started early on in my wife’s and I’s relationship. We would go to the Kenny Chesney concert at the Kentucky State Fair. It was always the Sunday before college classes started, but we made a point to attend to get our “Kenny” fix. We have since passed on that love to our entire family and circle of friends. We live in Louisville, Kentucky and are all island and sea lovers at heart.
Our Journey with Kenny Started back in the early 2000’s. The first concert we attended together was August 19, 2004 at the Kentucky State Fair. We already loved Kenny and listened to his music constantly. Before this concert, we were planning our wedding and Jenn brings me “Me and You” to listen to for our wedding song. We loved it and it fit our story perfectly. At the concert that year, we were having a blast and Kenny was talking and he said, “I haven’t done this next song in a while but I want to add it in tonight.” That song was “Me and You”. It felt like a sign that it was indeed our song. I can still remember the feeling of dancing with my then fiancé to our future wedding song while Kenny sang it to us live.
As we have grown up, so has the music that we love, it has been there through each stage of life over the years: birth of children, loss of parents, new friends, and adventures around the world. His music has ran the spectrum of emotional stories in his lyrics, knowing that regardless of what is going on we can find a song to get us through those times. We have attended every concert we could get to while our family was growing up.
Years later, we now have two teenagers: Madalynn and Brayden who live the No Shoes Lifestyle with us. That life of adventure, travel, the ocean and islands, loving life and one another. We now attend the Kenny Chesney concerts together as a family. They are so into tailgating, singing along to every word at the shows, listening to NSR, and loving every minute of the experiences from meeting Deanna Kay and Slippers back in 2018 and being featured on NSR, and then hearing that replayed while driving down the road, to getting to meet Harmoni and Wyatt before the 2019 show. My son’s main gift he wanted for his 13th a few years back was a NSR hat. Of course then you couldn’t purchase them, however, through the amazing members of NSN I was able to get in touch with Jon at NSR who was so amazing to help me out. That is what it is all about. No Shoes Nation is a group that wants see everyone happy and loving life.
It’s funny how the love grows… Our family has turned into an extended group of friends or “framily” as we call it, that are proud NSN Flag waving, concert going, beach loving, exploring groups. We have a few of our NSN Flags that travel with us and we always have to get a picture on every adventure we find.
In between concerts and trips, we spend as many weekends as we can in our garage or “Vibe Room” that has become our Blue Chair Bay Tiki bar with collections from Kenny and discoveries from around the islands. Surrounded by flags, pictures, music and good rum we are able to find an escape for a short period of time. Jamming to good music makes all the trouble and worries drift away and you can just live in the moment for a while. From the island and No Shoes nation themed tattoos we both have to a typical Blue Chair Bay drink in hand it is no secret how Kenny’s music has affected us throughout our life and continues to do so!
Cheers to Living Life Like Pirates,
Chris, Jenn, Brayden & Madalynn
