“One Trip To The Islands Is All It Takes.”

The Magic of the Islands and 150 new friends brought Natasha and her husband closer to Kenny’s music and being member’s of The No Shoes Nation.

Hey y’all! My awesome sandbar family! My name is Natasha, and I am From the Buckeye State. GO BROWNS! I lived in Virginia for 15 years where I met my husband, Donnie. We have three kiddos, and a handsome grandson.

I first fell in love with Kenny’s music around 1995, when I was a freshman in high school. That is when I really got into country music. I finally was able to see him for the first time in 2006, at Virginia Beach! Uncle Kracker opened for him, and Kenny played for what seemed like, forever! I was hooked even more after that show.

Fast forward to our move back to Ohio, in 2009. Since then, I have not missed a show! If Kenny was touring, I was there. I have seen him in Virginia, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Michigan. Ive taken my two oldest kiddos to see Kenny, and my youngest is ready the next time we go! It took me ten times seeing Kenny, to FINALLY be able get sandbar tickets. That is when I first met Connie. She was attending the same show as me, in Columbus, Ohio. I only knew her from the Welcome to The Sandbar group, but I was determined to find her before the show, and I did! My first sandbar experience, I will never forget. I was right at the T of the stage, and even got too high five Kenny. The sunburn from standing in that sandbar all day, was totally worth it!

As soon as I seen Connie and Michelle post about the trip to St. John, I never in a million years thought I would be able to talk my husband into going. But to my surprise, he didn’t even hesitate! He knew it was at the top of my bucket list. So, we booked our trip, and flew for the first time, to hang out with 150 people we had never met before! Were we crazy?

Now my Husband wasn’t a Kenny fan. Trust me, I have tried numerus times to get him back to liking the music, but I kept getting, “his music has changed, and is not the old school Kenny music I grew up with.” Well let me tell you something, to my amazement he changed after one day on the islands. He started listening to Kenny again! I will never forget it. My husband looked at me and said “I can see now why he sings about the Islands and feet in the sand. I can feel the music just by being here in this environment.” Folks he has all Kenny’s albums downloaded on his phone!

On the trip we met so many great people. One couple we met were Danny and Ashley. We knew right away that these two were just like us. In December, we flew down to Florida to their house. There also were two other couples (The Jones and The Mills) that came along, and we all brought in the new year in together. Bonus- Michelle even came to see us and hang out for a few!

So, a huge, big shout out to Kenny and his music for bringing us all together, and to Connie and Michelle for this amazing group, WELCOME TO THE SANDBAR!

We love our Sandbar family, and we hope to see you at the August show in Boston!
