“From Bluegrass To White Sand… Meet Kimber”
Hey to my Sandbar peeps! My name is Kimber and I’m originally from the beautiful state of Kentucky! (GO CATS! #BBN) Growing up in a small town of Loretto (home of Makers Mark 😁) I listened to a lot of country music and and 80’s rock. I remember first hearing Kenny and falling in love with his music! I wasn’t able to go to many concerts way back then, so my first concert was 2009 in Louisville, I was hooked! It was also at that time that one of my high school friends helped to start No Shoes Radio! (Shout out Jon!) He introduced me to this great format WAY back when you had to listen on the computer. I fell in love with the laid back island vibe and and was able to go to a few remote broadcast NSR used to do before Kenny’s shows. It was actually Jon who introduced me to Michelle and Connie at the 2015 Tortuga Music festival! That chance meeting has led me to so many wonderful friendships and adventures!
My life has had many twist and turns. After loosing my amazing husband, Rollie in 2011, Kenny’s music soothed my soul and got me though a very rough time, by giving me some inspiration to be somewhere warmer by the sea. I had always dreamed of being a travel nurse, so when the opportunity came to take an assignment in St Croix, I took it. (Way down here deeply resonated.) I remember the video for Pirate Flag came out when I was getting ready to head to the island, and it pumped me up to be going to live life on a Rock! That first step into what we call Gypsy Nurse life is still going after 8 years. I’ve been to some beautiful and fun places, but my favorite jobs are always near the sea. (My favorite song of Kenny’s is “On The Coast of Somewhere Beautiful “)
I’ve sadly only been able to see Kenny 9 times! (I know! I have some ground to make up compared to a lot of you!) And I’ve never scored a meet and greet, or autograph…but the shows I’ve seen were amazing! The best concert/show ever was when I got to see Kenny and Sammy Hagar on stage at the Cabo Wabo! (I’m also obsessed with Sammy and have been to his birthday bash 10 times! Lol) Another great memory was being a part of the “Get Along” video at the Tampa Show! (I’m in the crowd around the pontoon ;)
One of the best parts of being a member of the No Shoes Nation is meeting Connie and Michelle and all of you Sandbar peeps! It has led to an amazing trip to St John last year, bar hopping in Nashville with Michelle (so fun!) and a cool pool party in Vegas! I’ve hung out with Barbie in Key West, Marni, Shari and Greg in St Pete, Lauren in Jupiter, and my favorite fellow Kentuckians Stacy and Andy in Nashville! (Not to forget all of you i met in St. John!) All because of Kenny!
I know this year has been rough (I have tickets to 3 shows…just waiting…) but I know we will be together soon for more fun times! Heck, maybe I will finally get to meet Kenny and get that Autograph! 😁 LOVE YOU GUYS!
